Sofia T. Soudavanh Garden Established
Conceived by students as a memorial to BLA candidate and classmate Sofia Soudavanh, who died on August 30, 2020, the garden will be initiated this spring through a planting design competition and garden installation. Among Sofia’s last requests was that those wishing to remember her do so by planting.
The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in any degree program in the Department of Landscape Architecture and to all alumni of those programs who graduated in or after May 2020. Students may enter individually or in groups of any size. The garden will be planted by competition participants and other volunteers in early May 2022, in advance of the department’s Convocation Ceremony on May 15, 2022.
