Description of event
Joyce Hwang is Director of Ants of the Prairie and a Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Buffalo. For more than two decades, Ants of the Prairie has been addressing complex, contemporary ecological conditions through design and research collaborations aimed at fostering multispecies habitats within the built environment. Doing that effectively has involved partnerships with a wide array of disciplinary experts and organizations. In this lecture, Hwang will outline the philosophy and principles guiding her firm’s work, describe exemplary speculative and built projects, and share insights about lessons learned and future directions.
This lecture is made possible with support from the Stanley H. White Lecture endowed fund, and it is being co-sponsored with the Illinois School of Architecture.
