Bio of Lori West
As Academic Programming and Student Services Coordinator in the Department of Landscape Architecture, I serve as principal Academic Advisor for:
- Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA),
- Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA),
- Master of Sustainable Urban Design (MSUD),
- Undergraduate Minor in Landscape Studies, and
- Graduate Minor in Heritage Studies and Preservation students.
I am a consulting Academic Advisor and Graduate College liaison for the Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture Program.
I am a mentoring scholar and advocate for student success. My teaching, advising, and research bring people, spaces, and places in conversation. I served previously in the Grainger College of Engineering and as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at Knox College and Connecticut College. I hold a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master’s from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois. I received an Outstanding Alumni Award for Diversity and Social Justice Education. I am a historian of African American museums and excited to support students in the College of Fine and Applied Arts.
