John Loomis and Don Molnar win FAA Legacy Awards

We are pleased to announce that John Loomis and Don Molnar, two of our distinguished alumni, recently won 2019 College of Fine and Applied Arts Legacy Awards. These awards recognize college alumni and friends who have demonstrated courage, curiosity, and passion in their work. When they received their awards, John and Don met with our students to talk about their exciting careers and share their passion for landscape architecture.

John S. Loomis
Distinguished Legacy Award

John S. Loomis is a principal at SWA Group, an internationally acclaimed landscape architecture and urban planning firm with 240 employees in nine offices. His 42-year career as a landscape architect encompasses a wide range of project types, including mixed-use urban developments, institutional and corporate campuses, life plan communities, themed entertainment attractions, and green architecture. Donald J. Molnar
Illinois Arts Legacy Award

Don Molnar is a principal at Drumlin Group where he offers consulting and career services for landscape architects in the United States and abroad. Prior to his work at Drumlin, he served as a campus planner for the University of Illinois and professor and chair of the Landscape Architecture program at Purdue, making a deep impact on its campus and programming by developing a cooperative internship program that has successfully placed over 600 graduates in careers all over the country. Donald J. Molnar also practiced at Simonds and Simonds, one of the foremost landscape architecture firms in the 20th century, working on designs that balance environmental and community concerns.
