Field Day Chicago Held
Participants from all over Chicagoland met up with faculty and local professional volunteers to spend the day touring works of landscape architecture, including Millennium Park, the Chicago River Walk, Palmisano Park, and Northerly Island. The day concluded with a group discussion session hosted by Site Design Group, Ltd.
University of Illinois Professors Stephen Sears and Bill Sullivan, along with landscape architects Alan Watkins (Clarence/David), Ernie Wong (Site), Magdalena Aravena (Terra Engineering), and Adam White (Jacobs/Ryan) guided everyone through a series of field exercises that touched on the skill sets and sensibilities of designers.
The event was supported through a grant from the Society of Architectural Historians, submitted by Susan Ragaishis, Executive Director of IL-ASLA, and D. Fairchild Ruggles, University of Illinois Professor and Debra L. Mitchell Chair in Landscape Architecture.
