Projects in Practice: Juan P. Cáceres
With 27 years of professional experience in Chile, the United States, Canada, and China, Juan P. Cáceres is the Principal and Head of Projects at PaisajeVIVO Consultores, a consultancy firm based in Santiago de Chile; Design Director at ATA Architects and Planners (formerly ATA Lawrence Group), Beijing; and President of the Chilean Institute of Landscape Architects. In association with Bernardita Arnello, he created PaisajeVIVO—“a living landscape”—in 2004 as a framework for interdisciplinary research on the interaction between landscape and local communities; within it, he has the double role of Principal, in charge of strategic planning and management, and Head of the projects area, leading an interdisciplinary team in the study and development of urban and public space design projects, all of them involving and committing local communities or potential users. In addition, he supports the Research Area of PaisajeVIVO in the design and development of public awareness–public participation processes in relation to urban and regional planning in Chile. As a Design Director at ATA Architects and Planners, Beijing, he develops landscape concepts and design proposals for institutions and high-end residential projects.
