Projects in Practice: Eileen Dancuart
Since 2007, Eileen Dancuart (MLA 2002) has been Principal Designer and General Manager at Paisaje Vivo SA, a landscape architecture consulting, design, construction, and maintenance firm based in Lima, Peru. Dancuart is also a green roof specialist and a representative of the global company ZinCo Green Roof Systems.
When Dancuart undertook the MLA program at the University of Illinois, there were only seven landscape architects practicing in Peru. On returning to Peru in 2002, she became an instructor and thesis advisor in landscape architecture at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (Peruvian University of Applied Science; UPC), a position she has held ever since. Her first job as a professional was redesigning the landscape of the main UPC campus, and she has since worked on the UPC system’s three other campuses.
During the past two decades, Dancuart has completed hundreds of commercial, industrial, recreational, residential, commemorative, academic, and events-based projects, including dozens of LEED-certified works and green tech initiatives. That scope has drawn on Dancuart’s interdisciplinary academic background; in addition to earning an MLA at Illinois, she holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Urbanism degree from the University of Saint Augustine (Arequipa, Peru) and a Master of Interior Design (1998) degree from the University of Salamanca, Spain.
Dancuart is Vice President of the Peruvian Association of Landscape Architecture.
