Lecture: Ana Valderrama and Marcelo Barrale
This event will be a presentation of work realized during the past two decades by Matéricos Periféricos and Arquitectura del Sur Colectivo, two university-community partnerships based in Rosario, Argentina, that engage social action construction to support populations in need.
Matéricos Periféricos is a group of architects and students founded in 2001 by architects and educators Ana Valderrama and Marcelo Barrale. Its work focuses on contributing to spatial equity in Latin American cities through participatory and socio-community managed architecture.
Arquitectura del Sur Colectivo is a platform of experimental and collective architectural projects and constructions performed in the public space. Founded by architects and educators Alejandra Buzaglo and Daniel Viu, the group explores new methodological tools for (co)production in which students and educators participate together with human rights organizations and social movements.
