Is the University of Illinois Department of Landscape Architecture Accredited? Yes!
The University of Illinois Department of Landscape Architecture has successfully completed its decennial accreditation renewal for both its Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Landscape Architecture. This rigorous process, conducted by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB), occurs every 6 years and requires an exhaustive self-evaluation of the department’s academic and professional standards.
Following the submission of a 259-page report in December, a team of national experts conducted an intensive four-day site visit in March. The reviewers met with a spectrum of stakeholders, including students, university leadership, librarians, fabrication shop coordinators, and a panel of professional practitioners.
In a rare and prestigious outcome, the review team determined that both programs met all 96 LAAB Accreditation Standards assessments with no recommendations for improvement. This flawless evaluation is a significant distinction in higher education, reflecting the department’s exceptional commitment to excellence. Leadership expressed immense pride in the result and gratitude for the continued support of the alumni and donor community that makes such high standards possible.
